Frequently Asked Questions.

Can I book a pitch near my friends?

Due to practical considerations, Blacklands does not offer pre-allocated pitch reservation. Pitch choices are organised on the day, as campers arrive. Although it is most unlikely even large groups will not be able to pitch together, this cannot be guaranteed where any member of the group requires electric hook-up. This particularly, on very busy weekends, such as bank holidays.

Do I need to check for availability before making a booking?

No. You can check up to date availability information at the top of the booking form page.

Having a large area available for camping, Blacklands rarely reaches full capacity - with the exception of electric pitches on bank holiday weekends.

What are your policies regarding groups?

We are happy to cater to group gatherings, but do need to emphasise most importantly, that the campsite is all quiet by 11pm. Sitting up late, chatting around a fire does appeal to some, but unfortunately, proves disturbing to our majority family campers (with small children) and to nearby residents.

If you are considering a social gathering at Blacklands, please go ahead on this basis only, thank you.

For further enquiries, please contact us here.

Do I need to pay a deposit in advance?

No. We ask for full payment (cash or cheque only) on arrival, before setting up pitch.

I need a camping pitch at short notice, how can I book in?

If short notice means the very same day, you can call to check if someone will be available to check you in. We much prefer however, that bookings be made in advance via the online booking form.

Do you have a minimum number of nights policy?

No.

Can I freeze my ice blocks somewhere?

In the high season only, you can freeze a couple of blocks in the reception freezer free of charge.
In the low season the reception is closed, so as yet, there is no ice block freezing service available.

Can I listen to music onsite?

Our stipulation is no audible music, in other words, other campers must not at all be able to hear your music.

Do you cater for affiliated youth groups?

We cater for, and have agreements in place with several affiliated youth organisations, such as Duke of Edinburgh awards, Guides and Scouts. It is always necessary to have a supervising adult accompanying the group.
