FAQ

What are your policies on groups?

We are happy to welcome family and mature person groups of up to six tents/caravans/motorhomes throughout the year.

Larger groups may be permissible on dates outside of our high season (July & August), but this is strictly by prior arrangement only. Please get in touch with Leon at blacklandsfarm@gmail.com in the first instance to enquire about groups of more than 6 units.

It is essential when planning on camping at Blacklands with a group to consider that late night social gatherings are not permitted (past 11pm), while audible music is strictly not permissible at any time. We have found that this often turns out to be too restrictive for the expectations of some group campers, so if you represent a group, please make sure that everyone in your group is aware of our regulations before going ahead with any bookings.

To make multi-party bookings, please see the guide to booking multiple pitches available on the landing page of our bookings service here, where it says Booking more than one pitch? .

Please note that we do not under any circumstances accept group bookings for singles/young couples, adult birthday celebrations, weddings, or stag/hen events.

Do you have tents or other accommodation for hire?

No, we have no tents, caravans, static caravans or any other form of accommodation for hire – all the units listed within the booking service are solely bring your own.

Are there pubs within walking distance of the site?

Yes, the Royal Oak in Twineham is a walk of about a mile and half via local footpaths.

Do you have hot food available on site

Yes, we currently have fish and chips available on Friday nights in the high season of July through to the August Bank Holiday.

Can I freeze my ice blocks somewhere?

When the reception is open (warmer months only) we provide a freezer dedicated solely to ice blocks.

Can I hire a bike from you?

Unfortunately not at present – a bike hire service that has previously been in operation on the farm is no longer available until further notice.

Do you have a minimum stay policy?

For bookings with electric hookup, some weekends in the high season, along with the late May and August bank holiday have a minimum stay policy in effect. On bank holidays, the minimum stay is Friday, Saturday and Sunday night – on other weekends, both the Friday and Saturday night must be booked. The booking service will produce a notice should the requirements entered fall outside of any minimum stay policy in effect.

Can I have a fire?

We do not permit fires directly on the ground, however you are welcome to build a reasonably sized fire in a suitable container that is raised from the ground, such as a sturdy BBQ, fire pit or fire bowl. You can hire a fire pit from the farm shop also (please don’t forget to tick the fire pit box accordingly when you place or revise a booking).

Our policy is to permit smokeless wood only, and for that reason, we do not permit you to bring your own wood, or to collect any form of wood or kindling from around the farm or local area. Instead, we offer fairly priced smokeless logs, charcoal & kindling for sale in our on-site farm shop.

We ask that everyone planning to have a fire bring their own bucket for water, which must be kept filled and close at hand while any fire remains hot.

Do you have gas refills available on site?

No. There are numerous options for gas refills in the local area however, including the below:

  • Hamfields in Henfield stock a wide range of refills including cartridges, please see here
  • Swains Farm Garden Centre & Farm Shop stock many large gas refill bottles here.
  • Earnest Doe Power in Albourne here.
  • Camping world at Horsham have a full range of refills available here.
Can I listen to music onsite?

No audible amplified music is permitted at any time.

Do you cater for affiliated youth groups?

Organised youth trekking events, such as for Duke of Edinburgh awards, frequently make camp at Blacklands. Special rates are available in this case. An accompanying adult is essential. For all inquiries and bookings, please contact Leon here.

How can I get to and from Blacklands Farm by Bus/Train?
